Research, monitoring and advocacy on the drivers, spread and impact of illegal small-scale mining on land, water and livelihoods. We document how galamsey activity affects farmland, rivers and public health, and translate findings into evidence regulators and communities can act on.
Lithium Research & Support
Research, community engagement and advisory support around Ghana's emerging large-scale lithium mining sector. As projects like Ewoyaa move from exploration into production, we help communities, researchers and stakeholders understand what's changing — grounded in our on-the-ground work in the Ewoyaa catchment area.
Cocoa & Cocoa Farming
Research on cocoa livelihoods, land use, farmer welfare and the interface between cocoa farming and mining encroachment — including how galamsey activity is displacing cocoa farmland across the cocoa belt.
Small-Scale Fisheries
Studies on coastal and inland small-scale fisheries — livelihoods, fish stocks, closed seasons and community resilience — supporting fisherfolk associations and regulators with ground-level evidence.
